Vadim Krasnoselsky talked with representatives of the Sputnik news agency of the Russia Segodnya International Information Holding.
- Vadim Nikolaevich, on December 12, regular elections for the Head of the region took place in Pridnestrovie. How was it held according to your feelings?
- I consider that the elections were held openly, democratically, publicly and freely. Not a single observer recorded any serious violations.
As for the electoral period, it also passed quite calmly. The reason for this apparently is in the fact that as the current President I have been working with my team for all five years. Thus, I was doing my usual work without surprises and shocks during the pre-election period.
And I think we have achieved good results. Even during the economic crisis and pandemic. This makes me happy.
- These elections were marked by an unpleasant story related to the exclusion of a whole group of Russian observers from the territory of Moldova. But, I suppose, there was nothing new either for you personally or for the residents of Pridnestrovie in this situation?
- Yes, this is a well-forgotten old thing unfortunately. We have seen the forms that were used by the Moldovan authorities to prevent Russian public figures and human rights defenders from entering the territory of Moldova and Pridnestrovie.
How did this affect the elections? Of course not. The people of Pridnestrovie have made their choice. Official Chisinau has once again shown its true face, its unwillingness to hear people's opinions, unwillingness to speak with those whom these people choose. In general, this is disrespect for the Pridnestrovians. This means that it is very difficult to talk about some kind of rapprochement, if the Moldovan authorities a priori refuse to respect the choice of the inhabitants of the region.
Let me remind you that during the periods of parliamentary or presidential campaigns in Moldova there have never been any obstacles on the part of the official structures of Pridnestrovie. All people who have Moldovan citizenship could freely travel to the territory of the Republic of Moldova and vote.
- Pridnestrovie on the one hand is a subject of negotiations on a serious international platform "5 + 2". On the other hand, official Chisinau not only refuses to recognize the very possibility of any electoral process in Pridnestrovie. Are you going to draw the attention of international structures to this situation?
- Pridnestrovie in its current form has existed for three decades. As you rightly noted, Pridnestrovie is a full-fledged participant in the "5 + 2" format, which means that the region's officials are also full-fledged participants. It turns out that we are recognized by the entire world community, with the exception of Moldova. Indeed, this is a very strange situation.
- Such actions of the official Chisinau are, among other things, a kind of message to the leadership of the region and its residents. Personally, what message did you hear from the Moldovan authorities this time?
- The message is undoubtedly negative, but I hope still for common sense. The fact that the team currently in power in Moldova simply has not yet realized the inevitability of direct negotiations as a guarantee of the settlement process.
- If we assume the incredible – your meeting with Maia Sandu – do you have anything to say to her personally?
- I respect Maya Grigorievna. Of course, I have something to tell her. But, if you allow, I would not like to discuss this. I will tell her everything personally when the opportunity presents itself.
