A wide-format open-air cinema appeared in Slobodzeya in 1958. It had delighted audiences for half a century not only with films, but also with various cultural events with the participation of local and visiting artists. There was a decade of oblivion after that. This was recalled at today’s event dedicated to the opening of the facility after global reconstruction. It was initiated by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The transformed cinema and concert complex is welcoming guests again after two years of construction and renovation work. The PMR President arrived to personally congratulate the residents of Slobodzeya on the new infrastructure.
The President before the start of the festive event visited the Memorial of Military Glory in Slobodzeya, laying flowers at the monument and plaques with the names of the defenders who died in the Great Patriotic War and the Afghan War, as well as in the tragic year for Pridnestrovie in 1992. He spoke with the head of the district Vasily Tishchenko about the reconstruction of the memorial complex carried out in 2019.
Accompanied by the leadership of Slobodzeya, the guests entered one of the most beautiful parks in the republic, which locals call the newlyweds’ park, as well as a new, landscaped park near the summer cinema. People have already given it the name “floral”. A wide variety of flowers are planted there, including coleus, alyssum, salvia, marigolds, begonia, zinnia, in addition to perennial greenery – spruce, thuja, pine and barberry bushes. Talking with the young people who had gathered in the park in anticipation of the festive concert, the guests called the decoration and pride of the area, its brightest flowers, not the plants, but the talented young people.
The head of the local administration recalled that the work was financed from the Fund during the ceremonial meeting on the occasion of the opening of the revived cinema and concert complex, and about 120 million rubles in total were allocated for Slobodzeya social infrastructure facilities during the operation of the Capital Investment Program.
The President Vadim Krasnoselsky mentioned in his speech that over 650 facilities in total have been repaired and built throughout the republic through the Capital Investment Fund. Speaking about the decision to reconstruct the summer cinema, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled, that they hesitated to demolish it; leaving it to continue to collapse would mean stopping the infrastructural development of the central part of Slobodzeya. The decision made in the end to restore the cultural and historical site, making it a modern leisure center, is considered by the country's leader to be the only correct one. He called the opening day of the revived cinema significant, congratulating Slobodzeya residents, all residents and guests of the area on this event, which served as a reason for a bright celebration. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed confidence that this place will become a point of attraction for young people and the center of the cultural life of the region.
