The President held an extended meeting with the participation of officials and specialists involved in the creation of the Pridnestrovian State Museum. The existing infrastructure necessary to accommodate the museum complex is being reconstructed and additional infrastructure is being built in the center of the capital. Work is underway to create future exhibitions in parallel. Design developments were discussed today. The meeting participants presented drawings, graphs, models, and illustrations. The decision has already been approved – to preserve the archaeological block on the site of the exhibition auditorium of the Catherine Park. It was assumed initially that the artifacts collected by Pridnestrovian archaeologists would be presented there temporarily. Interest in the exhibition continues, therefore it was decided not to change its location. Thus, the museum quarter will stretch from the park exhibition auditorium to the Tiraspol fortress. The Museum named after Zelinsky will retain its historical location. The administrative building will house a library and office space – offices for museum management and staff, and meeting rooms. They plan to design the conference hall closer to the exhibition materials: the project assumes that it will be located in a reconstructed building, adjacent to the halls of nature, ethnography, the Middle Ages, pre-Soviet and the so-called first Soviet (before 1941) periods of Pridnestrovian history. It was decided that a museum of religions would be located here. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the emphasis will be on Orthodoxy, but other faiths should also be represented. A small exhibition will reflect the time of political repression. The main material on this topic has already been presented in the specialized museum based on the Bastion of St. Vladimir, which is an important element of the memorial complex in memory of the victims of terror and false accusations of the 30s of the last century.
The main building of the future museum was built from scratch. The territory adjacent to it will be actively involved in the formation of exhibitions. Visitors will be presented here with a mound, a permanent fortification, exhibitions of military equipment and weapons from the Second World War, as well as Soviet cars. The location of the T-34 tank and the field kitchen has already been thought out. Both objects will be mobile and will be able to leave the exhibition locations on occasion. The PMR Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing an interesting selection. Law enforcement officers are collecting a collection of old motorcycles. According to available data, the exhibition will include about three dozen units of motorcycle equipment.
Work on creating a diorama of the Iasi-Chisinau operation is already underway. The project is being worked on at the Bendery Higher Art College. Rector Sergei Gorbachenko said that staff and students are ready to take on the creation of mannequins to display the historical form. The life-size figures will represent a tanker, a pilot, an infantryman, a sailor, a partisan, and will portray the images of the son of the regiment and commanders. There is an idea in addition to recreate the appearance of specific historical figures for the museum. They collect data on the availability of finished portrait sculptures, which may be idle without attention in the storage facilities of various organizations.
The museum will definitely display a collection of awards and memorial signs. The Afghan war and Chernobyl will not go unnoticed. Exhibits in these areas will be placed in the hall of the Soviet period along with materials telling about the post-war development of the region. The large hall of the new building will be dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Another sector will tell about the creation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the war in 1992. Modern Pridnestrovie will be presented separately. The necessary conditions for storing museum funds will be created in the basement of the same building. The area of the future storage facility is one thousand square meters. The capacity almost doubles, taking into account the available multi-tiered storage.
The meeting participants discussed in detail the existing developments. A plan for further work was outlined. Working meetings and conferences will be held, including on-site meetings, in the course of implementation of the project initiated by the President. Vadim Krasnoselsky aimed at opening a museum complex dedicated to the war of 1941-1945 on the anniversary of the Great Victory – May 9, 2025. Exhibition halls introducing the modern history of Pridnestrovian statehood will be opened for visitors on the 2nd of September, 2025 – the 35th anniversary of the creation of the republic.
