Opening the discussion on land reclamation for agricultural purposes, Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the fact that Pridnestrovie is in the zone of risky agriculture.
It was noted at the meeting that the area of irrigated land increased from 8973 hectares in 2016 to 18851 hectares in 2020. It is planned for the current year to include another four thousand hectares of farmland in Pridnestrovie in the reclamation complex. The coverage by irrigation will reach 22.5 thousand hectares as a result. This indicator is far from the Soviet one, but the progress is noticeable. The participants in the working discussion also spoke about the fact that modern technologies allow twice increase the width of the irrigation coverage, in comparison with the sprinkler units of the last century. It was noted that interest is growing among farmers. One of the important aspects is the consistently low cost of irrigation water. The implementation of the state program for the reclamation complex development has slowed down the need to divert funds to combat the coronavirus pandemic. It will be updated based on the increased demand of agricultural producers, calculated for five years. It will be necessary to allocate at least 20 million rubles a year for its full implementation.
The President noted the importance of partnership between the state and the agricultural business in this matter.
