The press conference of the PMR President is a traditional event on the eve of the Republic Day. Every year, at the end of August, the President invites journalists, both from Pridnestrovie and abroad, to a dialogue in order to discuss the state of affairs in the republic, summarize the results, and outline plans. A number of participants in the presidential press conference has been reduced to the minimum allowed for safe stay in one room this year, due to quarantine restrictions associated with the threat of the spread of coronavirus. Less than half of the requests received from the media were satisfied. The decision according to which the employees would represent the media at a significant event was made by the chief editors. As a result, thirty journalists and two dozen technical specialists were invited to the conference hall. Most of them are representatives of the Pridnestrovian mass media. Taking into account the coronavirus circumstances, only the correspondent of the Moldovan news agency Sputnik Moldova arrived. The interlocutors of the President have been tested. This is a measure necessary to ensure the safety of all participants in the meeting. Among the invited guests are the Chairman of the PMR Government Alexander Martynov, the speaker of the Pridnestrovian parliament Alexander Korshunov, the First PMR President Igor Smirnov, the Chairman of the PMR Constitutional Court Oleg Kabaloev and the Head of the PMR State Media Service Lidia Kolodka.
