Meeting of Vadim Krasnoselsky and American diplomats took place in the presidential executive office. The delegation that arrived in Tiraspol was headed by the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Kent Logsdon. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the discussion from the Pridnestrovian side.
Welcoming the guests, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the importance of constantly maintaining working contacts, spoke about the need for systematic dialogue, the advantages of timely and comprehensive awareness of current problems for a prompt and effective response. Discussing the state of the negotiation process and the functioning of the “5+2” format, the PMR President noted stagnation. The prospects for activation are foggy, according to the President. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention of his interlocutors to Moldova’s withdrawal not only from officially reached and documented agreements, but also from gentleman agreements, as the PMR President classified it. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke in particular about the difficulties faced by Pridnestrovian officials in terms of freedom of movement. They talked about the many hours detention of a number of Pridnestrovian citizens at the Chisinau airport.
They discussed today the impact of geopolitics on the economy of Pridnestrovie –definitely negative. The difficulties of foreign trade are aggravated by the restrictive blockade measures that Moldova resorts to, preventing the export and import of products from Pridnestrovian producers. Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure that the problems are created artificially.
The model of behavior chosen by Moldova not only does not contribute to solving the accumulated problems, but undermines the trust of both the leadership of Pridnestrovie and the negotiators in their counterparts, and of the people, who are experiencing the consequences of the existing and growing tension.
The American diplomat expressed his readiness for a detailed discussion of issues on the current agenda, noting that there are many areas of discussion.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized in the course of the conversation that the republic remains committed to the principles of peacefulness, maintaining peace and security in Pridnestrovie and the regional space, and continuing dialogue using exclusively diplomatic tools despite the complexity of the events taking place around Pridnestrovie and their impact on the situation within the country. The PMR President considered it necessary to note that the Moldovan side declares its desire for peace, and emphasized that he is grateful for this position. The fact remains that Moldova’s approach to the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiations is destructive at the same time. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed hope that henceforth the neighbors’ actions will not be aimed at escalation.
