The basis of the People's Militia was formed by work detachments created at the enterprises of the republic. Today, the courage and feat of patriotic volunteers were discussed at the Tiraspol Memorial of Glory. The rally dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the People's Militia of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was held here. Addressing the participants of the commemorative event and in their person all Pridnestrovians, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic emphasized that the creation of the People's Militia in the difficult period of military aggression from Moldova for the Pridnestrovian state was caused by the need to protect civilians from a real threat. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about today, calling it a difficult period in history. The events of recent days related to the decision of PACE members to recognize the Russian Federation as an occupier in relation to Pridnestrovie was mentioned by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the current opinion officially declared by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is directly related to the position of Moldova that was documented on May 2, 2017 by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, which recognized Russia as an occupier, and the territory of the left bank of the Dniester – occupied by foreign troops. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Pridnestrovie is consistent in its desire for peace, resolving issues in a dialogue manner, and finding compromises. At the same time, signs of revanchism are becoming more and more pronounced from the side of the neighboring state, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic noted, recalling the honoring in Moldova of the criminals who destroyed the peaceful Pridnestrovian people. Speaking about Russia, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that it was Russian peacekeepers who stopped the bloodshed of 1992, forcing peace and keeping it on the banks of the Dniester for three decades. He emphasized that in this way the lives of not only Pridnestrovians, but citizens of Moldova were saved. The President considers that the current problems are the result of inability to negotiate.

The PMR President expressed gratitude to the defenders of Pridnestrovie, militias, guardsmen, law enforcement officers, peacekeepers and all Pridnestrovians who defended and kept peace on Pridnestrovian land. The memory of the dead was honored with a minute of silence.
