The PMR President listened to reports on the epidemiological situation and the state of affairs in the healthcare sector

The PMR Chief Sanitary Doctor informed the President about the epidemiological situation, assessing it as persistently unfavorable in relation to the spread of acute infections of the upper respiratory tract. 4238 cases have been detected over the past seven days (3288 a week earlier). 1709 carriers of the infection are children under the age of 14. Hospitalization was required in 182 cases. This is 29% more than in the last week of 2022. Natalya Beril noted that the increase in the incidence was expected. It was proposed for prevention to officially announce the onset of the epidemiological period with a number of measures, including restrictive ones. The list will be prepared and published by the relevant department. The President considers it expedient to introduce a mandatory mask regime in medical institutions, but in general, wearing masks in the republic will be a recommendation, not a requirement. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted in addition the importance of constant monitoring of the health status of members of large teams. It was about schools and kindergartens in particular. The PMR President noted that schoolchildren are now divided, and after the holidays are over, the risks of an increase in the incidence will increase. Taking the temperature of students and pupils should become a common practice to avoid the massive spread of viral infections. They will not only check the temperature of children with external signs of the disease in kindergartens and schools, but also conduct selective control measurements in individual classes and groups on a systematic basis.

The President asked how the healthcare system is coping with the load. The minister Kristina Albul said that hospitals functioned as usual, the outpatient service received patients on January 4 and 5 during the holidays, while duty teams worked without fail during the New Year and Christmas holidays. About a thousand citizens turned to hospitals with acute respiratory diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract from the 1st to the 8th of January. 478 people were hospitalized. The load on the holidays on the Republican Clinical Hospital was the greatest. Patients with acute respiratory diseases, pneumonia and bronchitis took all the hospital beds of the respective departments in the Republican Clinical Hospital these days. A decision was made on January 5 to deploy an additional bed fund for carriers of these diseases at the Veterans Hospital, Christina Albul said. The situation is not critical as for the coronavirus. Citizens with COVID-19 who need inpatient treatment are hospitalized mainly in the hospital of Slobodzeya, less often in the infectious diseases departments of medical institutions in other settlements of the republic. Vadim Krasnoselsky asked about the availability of medicines against coronavirus. The Minister said that they are in abundance. With regard to medicines for the treatment of other diseases, the availability today is 70%. There is a shortage of medicines, the import of which is limited by the Republic of Moldova. The President was interested in nutrition in medical institutions. According to Christina Albul, all medical institutions are provided with nutrition for the first quarter of this year.
