"The President's Family for Healthy Lifestyle" regatta is a longstanding tradition initiated by Vadim Krasnoselsky. Professionals, amateurs and rowing veterans took part initially in the event, the purpose of which was to involve as many Pridnestrovians as possible in sports and physical culture. The concept was changed last year. Now the regatta is an interdepartmental competition. This format makes it possible to attract a larger number of participants representing various fields of activity, to acquaint office employees with a new way of active pastime for the majority, to strengthen corporate ties and team spirit. The impulse for the development of this direction was given by the acquisition of multi-seat dragon-class boats. The competition among representatives of state authorities and administration, as well as journalists, students, Suvorovites and cadets were held at the Bendery rowing base in 2022. Tiraspol will host the regatta in 2023. The number of participants has increased markedly. Three dozen teams participated in the debut starts, there are 41 this year. Each crew includes 10 people, but the teams are more numerous – for the possibility of substitutions during the competition (the more successful the performance, the more races to go). Teams are mixed: there must be at least four sportsmen in each boat. The competitive distance has also been increased compared to last year. It is necessary this time to overcome not 200, but 300 meters. The training season has been active. The schedule of exits to the water was scheduled by the hour. Today and tomorrow will show how effective the classes were. The teams were divided into five groups according to age and departmental affiliation. The opponents of the first stage were determined by a draw. They were launched today. The winners of the qualifying round will meet in the semi-finals tomorrow, then the strongest teams in their groups will fight for the cups.
The regatta has started. The grand opening took place on the Tiraspol city beach. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the participants.
The President drew attention to the fact that the number of labor collectives wishing to take part in the race is growing. More than five hundred people are involved in this year's competitions, most of whom got acquainted with such a sport as rowing only thanks to the regatta. Vadim Krasnoselsky called competitions on boats of the "dragon" class the most accessible and democratic type of rowing. The President wished the participants a successful start, easy waters and victory, emphasizing that everyone will win, regardless of the time of passing the distance.
This time the Krasnoselskys are honorary guests of the regatta and active fans. When asked which of the teams they support, the President replied that the participants in the regatta are one big team, for the greater cohesion of which the event was conceived. Perhaps Vadim Krasnoselsky watches the performance of the team of the Presidential Administration a little more closely than the rest. Svetlana and Vadim Krasnoselsky were part of the team which beat all the rivals in their group last year.
Veterans of rowing, representatives of the Black Sea Cossack army, Suvorovites and cadets were the first to take to the water out of competition today. They presented a colorful demonstration run.
