Ceremonial meeting was held at the Palace of the Republic on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of State Security of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The Head of the Pridnestrovian special service Valery Gebos recalled the history of creation and the main stages of the formation of the state security agency of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. “The Ministry of the PMR State Security was created at a crucial moment in the life of our society, when the Moldovan leadership started armed aggression against inhabitants of Pridnestrovie. In the most difficult days for our people, state security officers were among the first to stand up for Pridnestrovie, displaying unparalleled courage, patriotism and perseverance. Since then, more than a quarter of a century has passed, but the protection of the national interests of the country and the safety of citizens remain key priorities of our activities,” the minister noted.
Valery Gebos summed up the results of the past year, having sounded the main indicators of the activity of the PMR Ministry of State Security. The Head of the department cited statistical data, noting the positive trends in the work of the departments of the ministry. He paid special attention to the results of the work on the articles “Treason against the State” and “Espionage activities”, as well as information security, which is provided in cooperation with the PMR ministries and departments and involves eliminating various kinds of vulnerabilities that could lead to the loss of information constituting state secrets. In addition, it was indicated that active work is underway to improve the system of guarding the state border of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, improving the living conditions of the staff of the Border Department of the Ministry of State Security of Pridnestrovie, as well as optimizing border control. The issues concerning arms trafficking, ammunition and narcotics trafficking remain relevant, according to the Minister of State Security.
Valery Gebos, concluding his speech, congratulated his colleagues on the anniversary of the formation of the Ministry of State Security of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, expressing confidence that the ministry’s personnel are well aware of both the degree of responsibility of Pridnestrovian state security agency and the scale of the tasks: and we will prove it not in words but in deeds”, the Head of department concluded.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky highly appreciated the importance of the activities of the state security bodies. He talked about the role of the PMR Ministry of State Security during the creation of the republic and at different periods of its formation. Focusing on the specifics of today's work of the staff of the Ministry of State Security, the President noted that in the fight against offenders, today it is necessary to confront not only and not so much strength but intelligence. He urged to strive for professional growth and self-improvement, and spoke about the importance of technical equipment of state security structures. "Time runs. We must keep up with the times,” Vadim Krasnoselsky noted.
The President dwelled on the issue of protecting state borders, noting the complexity of the current geopolitical position of Pridnestrovie.
The President addressed words of gratitude to veterans of the PMR Ministry of State Security. Congratulating the current employees, he wished them success, professional growth, well-being and health.
