Invitation to visit the Museum of Military Glory, created at the initiative and with the direct participation of members of the Tiraspol Council of War Veterans, Labor and Armed Forces, was addressed to Vadim Krasnoselsky during the meeting-tea party held on the eve of May 9. Today the President had a look at the exposition, talked with its creators.
The public organization "Veterans of War, Labor and Armed Forces" of Tiraspol has been operating in its current status and form since 1999, although its historical predecessors have existed under various names since the middle of the last century (Marshal Zhukov). Tasks, in fact, are not changed: support for veterans, preservation of history, social activities, and patriotic education of young people. To date, the number of the Council of veterans exceeds one and a half thousand people. 54 war veterans, home front workers, widows of war veterans, labor veterans and armed forces, as well as children of war (representatives of this category of witnesses to the Great Patriotic War began to enter into an alliance from the beginning of this year after the adoption of the law on their social protection).
The President was told that work on the creation of the Museum of Combat Glory started in 1999. Today, besides a large number of photographic materials and other exhibits, the main value of the museum fund is reliable and detailed information about the Tiraspol veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The fate of 940 participants of the Second World War is described in 94 books, combined in a series of "Eternal Memory". These are not prints but manuscripts of the heroes themselves, telling from the first person about the combat path, life before and after the war. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the written memoirs of veterans of great value, which must necessarily be preserved for future generations. The President recommended keeping copies of manuscripts in electronic format. “Thus, it is possible to preserve the history of 940 destinies, the living handwriting of veterans, personal photos”, the President noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky proposed that the biographical data, fragments of memories and photos of veterans in digital form included in the photo album, which is planned to be released by the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The President discussed with members of the presidium of the veteran organization and other projects planned for the anniversary of the Great Victory. It is proposed for the holiday to publish a book about the Heroes of the Soviet Union, whose fates were somehow connected with Pridnestrovie. The graves of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Order of Glory in the territory of the republic will be brought into proper condition. The meeting participants told Vadim Krasnoselsky that the main part of the graves refers to the 70s of the last century. The members of the Tiraspol Council of war veterans, labor and armed forces brought a part of the graves into proper condition on their own. Assistance was provided by the Tiraspol state administration. Vadim Krasnoselsky ordered to continue this work. The President considers that at the entrance to the cemetery, where there are graves of Heroes of the Soviet Union, there should be appropriate information signs. If necessary, monuments should be updated.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the active work of a public organization with young people. Meetings with children are held weekly at the Museum of Military Glory. This year there were especially many of them: on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Tiraspol from the Nazi invaders, the museum was visited by kindergarten children and schoolchildren. The guys not only got acquainted with the exposition and listened to the stories of veterans, but performed with numbers prepared by themselves. The President, having highly appreciated the social and educational work of the members of the veteran organization, supported their idea of compulsory placement of information stands about the history of the Great Patriotic War in educational institutions.
The President thanked members of the capital branch of the Council of Veterans for their fruitful work, active citizenship, initiative and valuable suggestions on the organization of celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to him, preparations for such a significant date should begin now.
Vadim Krasnoselsky handed over to the Tiraspol Council of War Veterans, Labor and Armed Forces the certificate for the purchase of home appliances and office furniture, which the organization needs to update. The meeting participants, in turn, invited the President for the 20th anniversary of the Tiraspol Council of Veterans, which will take place in November of this year.
