Pridnestrovie celebrated Defender of the Fatherland Day. Celebrations were held throughout the republic. Flowers and candles were brought to the monuments and graves of the heroes who at various times defended the Pridnestrovian land or died on the battlefields far from their native land. The first persons of the state gathered today at the capital's Memorial of Glory. The memory of the fallen defenders was honored with a minute of silence. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky lowered a wreath to the Eternal Flame on behalf of the entire Pridnestrovian people. A scattering of flowers revived memorial plates and pedestals of monuments.
The PMR President emphasized the importance of preserving peace and the memory of those who defended it, “The role of the Soviet soldier, the Red Army, is great. Of course, this is already in the past, nevertheless, we are Pridnestrovie, this is our holiday as well, the day of the armed forces, the day of the defender of the Fatherland. Our soldiers are defending the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic today. It is impossible to imagine Pridnestrovie without armed forces, and it is impossible to imagine the rights, freedoms and lives of Pridnestrovians without Pridnestrovie. All these are causal relationships, therefore, those defenders of the Fatherland who are defending our Motherland today, they are defending at this moment our freedoms, our rights, the right to live on this earth and speak our native language. Therefore, I sincerely want to congratulate everyone on the Defender of the Fatherland Day, wish good service and peace, peace to Pridnestrovie”.
