The festive events dedicated to the City Day began in Dubossary with the traditional flower-laying ceremony at the Memorial Complex of Military Glory. 81 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and 33 defenders of Pridnestrovie are buried here. 1467 residents of Dubossary did not return from the front during the Second World War. 74 local residents and 82 volunteers who arrived from other cities were killed in the early 90s of the last century, while defending the city from Moldovan aggression. The memory of the heroes who defended and liberated Dubossary at different times was honored with a minute of silence.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky on behalf of the Pridnestrovian people lowered the flowers to the Monument to the Soviet Soldier and the stone slabs under which the heroes were laid to rest. The ceremony was also attended by the leadership and members of the government, parliamentarians, the head of the regional state administration and the chairman of the local Council, participants in the hostilities to protect Pridnestrovie, clergy, representatives of public organizations, residents of Dubossary and guests of the city. Divine Liturgy was held on Victory Square.
The main celebrations timed to the City Day were organized in the city square. It was opened by the ceremony of raising the state and city flags. The head of the state administration of Dubossary and Dubossary district Ruslan Chaban addressed the fellow countrymen with a welcoming and congratulatory speech.
It is traditional for the city holiday to present state awards to residents of the city and villages of the district who have made a special contribution to its development. The most worthy of Dubossary residents received well-deserved awards from the hands of the President. Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked them for their love for their native land and the efforts made to make the Dubossary district, keeping its best traditions, at the same time becoming more comfortable and modern. The words of the president's gratitude are addressed to the veterans and defenders of Pridnestrovie - for their feat and the saved peace, as well as to all workers who, with their daily creative work, create the present and form the basis of the future.
In the tradition of celebrating the City Day is the summing up the results of the competition, photographs of the winners of which in various nominations are on the City Board of Honor throughout the year, as well as presenting passports of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to young citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
