Pridnestrovie will light candles in memory of the most terrible war of modern times tomorrow at dawn. Today's event is timed to the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War – a military-historical reconstruction of the battle of the Jassy-Kishinev offensive operation, which took place on the territory of today's Pridnestrovie and influenced the outcome of the entire war. Such large-scale productions are becoming traditional, but each time they surprise viewers with their scope and detail. This is not the first time that the Tiraspol city beach has been chosen as the venue. The location of the site allows the use of the river in the production – a real participant in the events of 1944, and at the same time to provide a spacious viewing area for spectators. The organizers – military personnel and activists of the patriotic movement "The Heirs of Victories" – involved more than three hundred participants in the reconstruction, horse-drawn carriages, as well as a T-34 tank, "Katyusha", armored cars, motorcycles, mortars, artillery guns, and rocket systems. The beach area is not only a battlefield, but also a large stage area. The authors of the idea included a performance by artists in the production. In addition, they invited to participate future defenders of the Fatherland – cadets, pupils of Suvorov military college, and young army members. Military events unfolded on land, on water, and in the sky. Many historical facts and names of real heroes who defended the Pridnestrovian land during the Great Patriotic War were heard. Thousands of Tiraspol residents and guests of the city arrived to watch the reconstruction. The Krasnoselsky family was among the spectators.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude for the excellent organization and successful holding of the event at the end of the event. Speaking to journalists, the President noted that the current and similar reconstructions are a tribute to the memory of heroic ancestors and a tool for preserving history.
Vadim Krasnoselsky was asked about his attitude to the statements of some Moldovan officials that the recreation of the picture of wartime events is a demonstration of force with narratives that have lost their historical relevance.
The PMR President answered, "I would like to remind both the Minister of Defense and the Bureau for Reintegration that the Jassy-Kishinev operation liberated the MSSR, Romania, Europe and brought liberation to many states, many citizens of these states. Naturally, it did not threaten peace in any way. The Jassy-Kishinev operation did not bring war, but liberation. As a result, Romania became independent from the fascist-Nazi occupation, and the Romanians themselves shot dictator Antonescu by court order in 1946 as a war criminal. This is a fact. This is first of all. As for the reconstruction, it is simply memory, it is history. There is no need to be afraid of it. I understand that some Moldovan leaders are afraid of history, afraid of the truth. You can find out why, but let everyone answer this question for themselves in principle. There is no need to be afraid of history. Citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, whose ancestors liberated this land and fought the fascist-Nazi plague, remember history, remember their ancestors, remember the losses that resulted in the liberation of the territory of the Soviet Union and all of Europe. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of. As for the Minister of Defense of Moldova, I would ask him questions myself. When you say that you are acquiring attack drones, think about what you are talking about and why you are saying this. This is a threat. The reconstruction, in which people who love history participate – "The Heirs of Victories" club and so on, the historical T-34 tank, "Katyusha", and other equipment from the Great Patriotic War are used, what kind of threat is that? It is not a threat, but what you are doing, gentlemen, and specifically the Minister of Defense of Moldova, is a threat. The threat also comes from those who want to whip up hysteria out of thin air, set people against each other, sow hatred in the end. This really threatens peace and security. Something must be done with them, to work with them somehow, bring them to justice, calm them down.
Pridnestrovie does not want war. Pridnestrovie wants peace. This is a fact. Today's event is proof of this. It is being held in order to see approximately what war is, storming a height, overcoming water obstacles, enemy fire. It is unlikely that any sane person would want to repeat this, in my opinion."
The organizers have prepared thematic locations, photo zones, and exhibitions in addition to the reconstruction. You can also see retro cars in addition to military equipment and weapons. Among the exhibits there was a Volga restored by Vadim Krasnoselsky, which once belonged to the President's father. "This is a memory of my father, who is a participant in two conflicts – the Daman events and the Afghan war. Eternal memory to him. The vehicle is also a memory of that era and of my father," Vadim Krasnoselsky shared.
