Football players today changed their sports uniforms to ceremonial suits, and gathered not on the playing field, but in the hall of the City Palace of Culture. The best representatives of this sport are honored in 2019 on the occasion of World Football Day in Tiraspol. The winners were determined among the participants of the PMR Championship. This year, in addition to the main competitions, the championship among veteran teams debuted. Winners awarded medals. Champion-2019, winner of the PMR Cup in football - the team of the Iskra club of Rybnitsa. Among seven veteran teams, the championship belongs to the Tiras club.
The best goalkeepers, midfielders, coaches, referee and volunteers were named today. In addition, awards were awarded for the will to win, for loyalty to football, for contribution to its development and popularization, for special achievements, to the oldest participant in the championship and to the best organizers of matches.
Congratulating the winners and everyone who loves, appreciates, develops sports in general and football in particular, the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the importance of involving young people in physical education, as well as the need to maximize the involvement of sports veterans in this work. According to the President, the personnel potential is no less important than the infrastructure opportunities that the state provides for young athletes, opening up new training facilities. The President called for applause for the guest of honor of the ceremony - the famous Soviet football player, Dynamo Kiev striker Igor Belanov, who, having joined the national team, won the Golden Ball award in the world of football in 1986. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that today the “Leather Ball” has returned to the republic - a revived youth tournament, which this year brought together 2696 young athletes. Its qualifying stage has been successfully completed; final games will take place in spring, for which teams of educational institutions of the republic are actively preparing.
From the stage of the City Palace of Culture today they talked about achievements, including the revival of the Pridnestrovian Cup and the holding of an open Pridnestrovian Cup among young men, and plans for the near future. In projects, for example, the holding of futsal and beach soccer tournaments, said the President of the Pridnestrovian Football Federation Pavel Prokudin.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, handing the awards to the winners, congratulated the audience on the holiday and wished the athletes and football fans further success.
