An extraordinary meeting of the Academic Council was held in the assembly hall of the main building of Pridnestrovian State University. The agenda included one item: the confirmation of the elected rector to the post. Founder of PSU named after Taras Shevchenko and the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky participated in the event.
The election of the university's head took place on May 29. Larisa Skitskaya, who served as acting rector until today, was the only candidate. A total of 560 people, or 87.1% of the faculty, participated in the vote. 470 votes (84%) were in favor of the candidate, while 86 (15%) voted against. One percent of the ballots were invalid. Professor Sergei Filipenko, chairman of the organizing committee for the PSU rector election, announced this to the members of the Academic Council and invited guests.
The previous day, the President of the PMR signed a decree confirming the elected rector. Vadim Krasnoselsky personally congratulated Larisa Skitskaya today after announcement. He emphasized that leading the country's main university is not a title, but a heavy burden and a huge responsibility. The President spoke about the university's importance as a training ground for professional personnel and a center of science, as well as the intricacies of working with young people, calling youth the most important resource in society. Vadim Krasnoselsky wished development to the university and a strong team of like-minded people, success, and good health to the elected rector.
