The environmental situation was discussed in the course of the video conference

The President requested information on the environmental risks associated with the petroleum products spill into the Dniester from Ukraine. The estimated volume is 1.5 tons. The incident was reported on March 10.

The Moldovan side is approaching the riverbank territory, temporarily restricting the use of river water for drinking and for those in need, and has begun installing special barriers and filtering structures in the Cosauti-Yampol region. The Moldovan government introduced a two-week enhanced assistance regime (environmental atmosphere) on March 15.

The Main Directorate of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the PMR established an observation post near the village of Grushka in Kamenka District on March 11. The situation is being monitored around the clock. Rescuers on duty discovered an oily streak several hundred meters long on the surface of the water on March 14, which caught fire due to the flow of pollutants along the riverbed. An oil slick was discovered near one of the Dubossary hydroelectric power plant's units in the afternoon. No oil products are currently observed in the hydroelectric power plant's stored tailrace. Ice remains in the reservoir. An increase in oil product inflow is expected after the ice melts—approximately in 1-2 hours, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Neagu. Citing the opinion of power plant specialists, the director noted that oil products should not flow into the tailrace. Discharges through the spillway dam are currently not occurring. All water passes through the turbines, entering them 10 meters below the surface. However, oil products are located in the upper layers of the water, Vitaly Neagu explained. He also reported that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology is conducting laboratory testing of the water. Furthermore, Moldovan and Romanian specialists have been allowed into the area adjacent to the Dubossary hydroelectric power plant's reservoir, and they are assisting in the installation of containment booms in the Dubossary dam. Vadim Krasnoselsky pointed out that petroleum products, to a greater or lesser extent, are present in any case of spillage into the coastal zone. The President stated that it is necessary to monitor the situation and organize cleanup efforts. The Main Directorate for Situation Response is the responsible agency.
