Every year on June 19, Bendery commemorates the events of 1992 – tragic and simultaneously heroic pages of history. Paying tribute to the defenders and all who survived those difficult days the city residents bow their heads on this day in memory of the fallen.
Maternity Hospital in Bendery. It found itself during the armed conflict in a combat zone, but even under the threat of shelling, doctors continued to perform their duty: delivering babies and saving the lives of women and newborns. These events are forever etched in the chronicles of not only the medical institution but the entire city. Having survived those tragic days, the maternity hospital retained its primary purpose – to be a place where new lives begin. It remains today a symbol that, despite any trials, life goes on – in children's voices, happy families, and new generations of Bendery residents. The President's wife Svetlana Krasnoselskaya comes to the Bendery Mother and Child Center every year to congratulate women on the birth of babies, born during these special June days. Following tradition, Svetlana Sergeyevna presented gifts and wished today the mothers and newborns good health, prosperity, a happy future, and a peaceful sky above. The President's wife emphasized that Children born in June 1992 came into this world to the sounds of war. We must do everything possible to ensure that current and future generations are born only under peaceful skies.
The department is treating seven women whose children (four girls and three boys) were born on June 17 and 18. There's a good omen at the Bendery maternity hospital: if more girls are born by June 19, good things await the city.
Yulia Titova from Tiraspol is among the happy mothers. This was her first time giving birth in Bendery. Her fourth child, a son named Alexey, was born here. Two brothers and a sister are waiting for the baby at home. The older brother is 17, and Alexey is just two days old. The newborn's name was chosen by his mother, who says Alexey is a heroic name. Svetlana Krasnoselskaya congratulated the mother of three and noted during the meeting that she herself is a mother of three and knows well what a joy it is to have a house full of children.
A resident of Bendery Elena Shereper gave birth to her first child, a son named Vladislav. The young mother admitted that she dreamed of a girl and even chose a name in advance. However, their first child was a boy. Despite the difficult birth, Elena says, the joy of motherhood is incomparable. She is confident that she will definitely return to this maternity hospital for her daughter.
The maternity hospital wards are warm and bright today. There are no anxious memories or sorrowful speeches. The first cries of a child are heard here – these are sounds of happiness. Joyful voices of parents are heard, and an atmosphere of hope pervades. For these families their children's birthdays are connected to the city's history, resilience and courage. The newborns know nothing yet of the events that have forever entered the chronicles of Bendery. It was for them that people once defended their homes, their families, and the right to live and raise children on their native soil.
Svetlana Krasnoselskaya said that her daughters were born in the maternity hospital of Bendery. She has the warmest memories of this institution. Svetlana Sergeyevna noted the high professionalism of doctors, midwives, and all medical staff, thanks to which thousands of families have found the joy of parenthood.
