The Working Discussion of the President with the Head of Kamenka District

The head of Kamenka State Administration informed the President in the course of the working discussion of the critical condition of a section of a strategically important road. This section of roadway runs downhill from the village of Katerinovka to the village of Rashkov. This road provides transportation links between the entire Kamenka District and the rest of the republic, emphasized Sergei Sokirka. There is no alternative route, except for a dirt road, which becomes inaccessible in adverse weather conditions.

This section of roadway requires urgent repair. Its deterioration is due to the constant impact of groundwater on one side and significantly exceeding the design load on the other. The road was built during the Soviet era, not anticipating such long-term wear and tear on the road surface, and, more importantly, the current loads, both in terms of traffic volume and heavy-duty vehicles. This road is constantly used not only for passenger transport and emergency vehicles currently, but also for food, building materials, fuel, and other cargo that support the district's vital activities. Asphalt waves, subsidence, and longitudinal and transverse cracks indicate the destruction of not only the surface but also the layers that make up the road structure's base. The district is making every effort to minimize the negative consequences of road surface wear, cleaning and maintaining the drainage system along the entire descent, installing additional drainage channels, but these are only temporary measures that temporarily curb the destructive processes but do not solve the problem. Addressing the root causes requires a comprehensive engineering solution, installing a groundwater interception and drainage system, restoring the road base, and overhauling the road surface. The estimated cost of the project is approximately seven million rubles.

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the transport artery connecting Kamenka District with the rest of the republic cannot be closed. Instructions have been given to study the possibility of allocating funds to solve the problem.
