Led by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting delegation arrived in Pridnestrovie. The diplomats took part in the meeting organized at the site of the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then accompanied by the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev arrived at the presidential executive office. In addition to the Austrian diplomat Mayr-Harting the European delegation included the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch, the Polish Ambassador Tomasz Kobzdej and other officials representing the Polish Embassy in Moldova and the relevant divisions of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Welcoming the guests, Vadim Krasnoselsky called the meeting important and necessary, especially in the circumstances of the downtime in the work of the “Permanent Conference…” format. The PMR President focused on the fact that the ongoing large-scale and serious geopolitical events have an impact on Pridnestrovie, provoking an increased interest in the republic. The PMR President called the provision of peace and the formation of a negotiation agenda between Tiraspol and Chisinau the main issues on the agenda of today's meeting.
“We understand our difficult position. We initially chose the position of peace. I have repeatedly stated this at various levels, various venues, in various comments. I not only declared, but also proved our commitment to peace. In addition, there is a corresponding statement of the Supreme Council of our republic, supported by various public organizations. The Supreme Council and I as the President express the will of the people. I assure you, we are all united in our understanding of the peace,” Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.
The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office in turn noted how important it is to meet, discuss topical issues, find solutions to current problems, especially in the current difficult situation that is developing along the outer perimeter. Thomas Mayr-Harting, expressed gratitude to Vadim Krasnoselsky for the opportunity to directly and openly discuss pressing issues.
The participants of the meeting discussed various aspects of the negotiation agenda, talked about the activities of the OSCE during the period of the Polish Chairmanship, identified areas requiring increased attention and options for solving existing problems.
