Vadim Krasnoselsky invited the Minister of Social Protection and Labor to a working meeting to discuss the current state of affairs. Particular attention was paid to support for citizens with disabilities. Elena Kulichenko reported that there are currently 12832 such individuals in the republic, including 1143 children. A total of 1018 people either reside in or attend specialized facilities (comprising seven residential institutions and two day-care centers). Home-based social assistance is provided to 2368 Pridnestrovians with special needs. Additionally, there are fifteen special education institutions serving 1515 minors. The Minister reported on the results of inspections at these facilities, repairs carried out during the summer, and the status of heating provision for the organizations.
The discussion touched upon pensioners; there are approximately 150000 of them in the republic. Pension payments are made on time and in full. There remains a need for additional residential facilities for elderly citizens living alone, as well as a need for caregivers to provide home-based services. A new initiative for Pridnestrovie involves the introduction of tutors: 27 children with disabilities will receive assistance from specialized educational mentors.
Vadim Krasnoselsky inquired about financial support for families with disabled. The Minister explained that in addition to standard disability pensions, non-working parents of such children receive a monthly allowance of 1070 rubles. Furthermore, if a child does not attend state educational or childcare institutions, the parents receive partial compensation for food costs; currently, families of 230 children with special needs receive these payments. The state allocates an additional 800 rubles per month for personal care and hygiene products for individuals with limited mobility or those who are bedridden.
The operation of sports facilities for citizens with special needs was discussed. Branches of the Republican Rehabilitation Center are located in Tiraspol, Bendery, Rybnitsa, and Dubossary. A need for three air conditioning units was identified, and this matter has been resolved. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about socialization through participation in educational and vocational training programs. 147 young people with special needs are training currently for a profession at vocational education institutions in Pridnestrovie. Seamstressing is a field where hearing-impaired workers are highly sought-after, skilled professionals. There are other sectors as well where Pridnestrovians with various disabilities find employment.
Vadim Krasnoselsky asked the minister to convey gratitude to everyone working in the social sector for their service to the community.
