The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, “I went with the class, with friends, with my parents to lay flowers to mass graves here in Pridnestrovie, in Bendery, since school. These are our traditions, our memory, and our pride. I went with now deceased my father. What is happening today? You can see how many people. People go to the parade with pleasure, to honor the memory of the victims, to look at the current defenders of the Fatherland. Probably, everyone present here including me and you is hurt by what is happening in the world. They are trying to defile the feat of the Soviet people, to neutralize the main contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over fascism. Publications in the media, statements of individual politicians, false historians are proof of this. There appeared the so-called public figures who call the Victory Day "pobedobesie". I don't want to say this word, but it sounds in the media, on the Internet. What scares them? I can answer. They are afraid of the unity of the people. May 9 is the holiday that unites people of different nationalities, religions, views, one of the few maybe even the only one that truly unites people. This is what scares.
I am not a historian, I just love history. And I want to draw your attention to some of the nuances. The victory in the First World War was stolen from Russia one time, in 1917. The result of this action was that Hitler came to power, and the Nazi empire, Nazi Germany and the Reich arose. You know the results: World War II, millions of victims. Now they are trying to steal victory from Russia and the people, to desecrate this feat. It’s very dangerous. History is cyclical, history repeats itself. Those people who do this do not think about anything. Think about yourself, about your destiny, about your life. This desecration, this lie can lead to disaster, as it was then in the last century.
One more point. Pay attention, if you go around our memorials in villages, cities, districts, on the date of death of those who went to the front from this particular region, from Pridnestrovie. These are years 1944, 1945. Then, after the liberation of the district, people were called up for service, and they died, liberating Europe. In fact, most of the Pridnestrovians who died in the Great Patriotic War and World War II are the liberators of Europe. We should be grateful for this to our people, the victorious people, of course. This is true, though bitter for some, but true. That victory is happiness for our people, for those who have come today and will come to memorials to lay flowers. Therefore, I want to wish us memory. It is our duty to keep it. It is our duty to remember, but truth will always prevail".
