The President was informed by the Minister of Agriculture on the current situation in the sector

Vadim Krasnoselsky requested information on the state of affairs in the agricultural sector. The data was provided by Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Igor Palamarchuk. According to him, perennial plantings in orchards (1910 hectares) and vineyards (1924 hectares) were pruned in a timely manner, and winter crops were fertilized on an area of 82000 hectares. The sown area is 216000 hectares (similar to last year). 1.5% of arable land (including fallow land) remains unsown. 2078 hectares of crops were lost (mostly rapeseed 1626 hectares), and 1399 hectares were damaged. Most of this area was resown with spring crops. Cropland structure of Pridnestrovie is dominated by grains, legumes, and industrial crops. The availability of these crops is a significant argument in favor of cultivating winter wheat, barley, and corn despite fluctuating purchase prices and increasingly complex logistics. Drought-resistant sorghum has been introduced into the crop rotation, with the area sown this year amounting to 1600 hectares since 2021. Due to changing climate conditions, the area of corn for grain on dryland (non-irrigated) land is decreasing. 16900 hectares are sown with this crop for the 2026 harvest. Demand for legumes and pulses is growing in the foreign market. Peas, lentils, and chickpeas are sown on 14700 hectares. This development is beneficial for crop rotation and the preservation of soil fertility.

Sunflower and rapeseed account for 90% of the industrial crops cultivated in the republic. Both crops are in demand in both domestic and foreign markets. Sunflowers are planted on 58000 hectares (with a growing share for confectionery) this year. Winter rapeseed has been sown on 17000 hectares despite all the risks.

The 2026 harvest has gotten off to a successful start. 72 tons of radishes and greens, 8 tons of zucchini, 28 tons of early cabbage, 17.5 tons of cucumbers, and 16.8 tons of potatoes have already been harvested. Spring frosts, which returned during the flowering period, destroyed the harvest on 225 hectares and reduced the yield on 804 hectares of cherry, apricot, apple, and plum orchards of early ripening varieties. Nevertheless, 67 tons of cherries and 47 tons of cherries have already been overall harvested in the republic. 109 tons of strawberries have been harvested. Barley harvesting has begun in Slobodzeya District. Harvest prospects are optimistic. Winter rapeseed and wheat harvesting will begin in a week. The forecast is favorable: 470000 tons of grain and 350000 tons of winter wheat.

Green pea harvesting is in full swing. Nearly five hundred hectares have been sown this year: 298 hectares in Slobodzeya District and 196 hectares in Kamenka District. According to current data, 42% of the area has been harvested, yielding 1,131 tons. A yield of 70 centners per hectare is reported in Slobodzeya District. Green peas are sent to the JSC "Baby Food Canning Plant" and to the JSC " Kamenka Canning Plant". Sweet corn, broccoli, and cauliflower are grown in addition to green peas for freezing and canning. Vegetable production is calculated based on fresh marketability.

It was discussed that these crops require mandatory land reclamation. According to the latest data, the volume of irrigation water supplied was 7.77 million cubic meters. This is 5.3 million cubic meters less than last year. The decrease is due to abundant spring rainfall. Igor Palamarchuk emphasized that the natural moisture contributed to the growth of weeds, including ragweed. Weed control requires additional effort and financial expenditures from landowners.

The President asked about the situation in livestock farming. The minister reported positive trends in a number of areas. In particular, poultry production increased by 27% this year, and chicken egg production by 45% compared to the same period last year. It was noted as benefit that new producers are emerging in the republic's livestock sector.
