The President took part in the meeting of the final Board of the PMR State Media Service. According to the head of the service Lydia Kolodka, the main task of the department is to promptly inform the population about events taking place in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the republic and abroad. Particular attention is paid to the formation of a positive image of Pridnestrovie in the world.
The head of the civil service reported that the work of 275 media outlets was documented in Pridnestrovie. 5 new media were registered in 2018. About a hundred foreign journalists received accreditation for work in the republic.
Lydia Kolodka focused on the work of the state media of the republic in 2018. She emphasized that a number of television and radio programs has increased significantly in recent years. It is important that 80% is non-borrowed material, the head of the department noted. She told about the activities of the republican print media - newspapers “The Pridnestrovie”, “The Adevarul Nistrian”, “The Gomin”, which are part of “The Pridnestrovskaya Gazeta” state institution. In 2018, journalists of “The Pridnestrovskaya Gazeta”, for example, focused on such topics as building constructive interaction between officials and citizens of the republic, respecting the history of the Fatherland and the older generation, and the main figure on the pages of the publication was Man and Citizen of the PMR. The rubrics “Your people, Pridnestrovie”, “Entrepreneur and his business”, “The People of the Victory”, “Portrait of a countryman” become popular. “The Adevarul Nistrian” and “The Gomin” newspapers continued the course of preserving and promoting Moldovan and Ukrainian culture. Lydia Kolodka noted that with the participation of the editorial staff of these publications, educational programs are being developed, textbooks for schools of the republic, dictionaries, children's books, and collections of works of Pridnestrovian authors are published. “The Gomin” newspaper continued its active cooperation with the Belarusian, Bulgarian, Gagauz and Polish communities in 2018.
The Pridnestrovian Television and Radio Company, the head of the State Media Service recalled, includes the First Pridnestrovian State TV, Radio 1, and news agency News of Pridnestrovie. Last year, the content of the Pridnestrovian radio replenished with several radio programs. The browsing counter of Radio 1's web page recorded more than 170 thousand visitors. Social networks and other electronic means of communication allow journalists to maintain constant communication with radio listeners, taking into account their tastes and preferences when choosing topics for radio programs. From today, Radio 1 broadcasts throughout the country, said Lydia Kolodka (until now it was available only to residents of Tiraspol, Bendery and Slobodzeya).
According to the head of the service, the website of news agency News of Pridnestrovie as well as agency web pages in social networks, are no less popular. The number of site visits in 2018 reached 11 million, the original users recorded more than 1.03 million people. The agency is constantly working on creating new rubrics. The head of department said that this year journalists of the editorial board began to actively use short videos from the scene and photo reports in their materials. The site of the news agency News of Pridnestrovie has pages that contain background information about the republic - its history and today, added Lydia Kolodka. Materials of the agency are available in English for foreign users.
Speaking about the work of the state television channel, the head of the State Media Service noted that today “First Pridnestrovian” is going through the stage of building of modern television. There are projects, creation of which uses new technologies, said Lydia Kolodka. The broadcasting network of the “First Pridnestrovian” program occupies an important place in programs that highlight political, economic and social topics. According to the head of department, the entertainment sector is becoming more and more diverse. Special attention is paid to public service announcements, through which journalists speak with TV viewers on important and relevant topics, the speaker said.
Lydia Kolodka in the course of the report told about the activities of institutions subordinate to the State-run media agency - the Poligrafist Bendery Printing House and the Stamp of Pridnestrovie publishing house. According to the head of the service, postage stamps are an effective tool for creating a positive international image of Pridnestrovie. The “Brand of Pridnestrovie” actively participates in the public life of the republic, recording the most important events taking place in Pridnestrovie and in the world. In 2018, a series dedicated to the Year of Equal Opportunities, the 80th anniversary of the Tiraspol United Museum, the 100th anniversary of V. Solovieva, and the World Cup in Russia was issued. Lydia Kolodka noted that the professionalism of the company's specialists is highly valued outside the republic. Last year our publishing house produced 8 series of postage stamps for the Republic of Abkhazia. Previously, the company issued three series of postage stamps for the Republic of South Ossetia.
Last year, printing house Polygraphist worked with more profit than before, the head of the State Media Service reported. Profitability increased by 24%. After upgrading the equipment, the quality of the products has improved significantly. At the same time, the time of its production was significantly reduced, Lydia Kolodka stated. In 2018, the printing house published such publications as “Development Strategy of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for 2019–2026”, “Bendery Fortress. Living symbol of history”, “The work of faith and the labor of love: pages of the history of the Tiraspol-Dubossary eparchy”. The company plans to open a store in Tiraspol, computerize workshops, increase production, the head of the state service said.
After hearing the report on the results of the department’s work, the President focused on the role that the media plays in society.
The President considers that there should be more information about Pridnestrovian youth on the pages of print media, as well as on television and radio.
The President aimed journalists to continue active work on preserving the history of Pridnestrovie, as well as the culture of the peoples living in the territory of the republic. The priority of the media should remain such topics as promotion of family and spiritual values, the patriotic education of the younger generation, the popularization of sports and a healthy lifestyle. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, serious attention should be paid to the professional development of Pridnestrovian journalists, including those outside the republic.
The President thanked the media and profile service employees for their conscientious attitude and creative approach to work, wishing them continued success in the profession.
