Meeting of the Military Collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the PMR was held in the assembly hall of the General Staff. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky took part in the meeting. The purpose of the event is to summarize results of official activities in 2020. The number of participants in accordance with the pandemic requirements is minimized - it is limited by the leadership of the Presidential executive office, the PMR Government, the Supreme Council and the Ministry of Defense.
Several reports were made in the course of the meeting. It concerned mobilization readiness, technical and logistical support, the state of military discipline and activities to increase the prestige of the republic's armed forces. Qualitative and quantitative indicators were voiced, army achievements and aspects that require increased attention were indicated. They focused separately on solving problems of maintaining defense capability in the current year and for the future.
It was noted that work on combat training was intensified, command and staff exercises were conducted, including on maps, joint training with the involvement of command and control groups, and radio training despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in the reporting period. Activities were carried out to counter terrorism. Numerous tactical exercises with live fire from various weapons and army competitions were held. The speakers paid attention to the training of military specialists on the basis of specialized institute, as well as the education of the pupils of Suvorov Military College. They discussed the military parade that was held on the 2nd of September, in which 1200 servicemen took part and more than a hundred pieces of historical and modern equipment. They separately focused on the modernization of the army infrastructure. The building of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the PMR was reconstructed in 2020. The renovated premises are furnished and equipped. The adjacent territory has been brought into proper condition. In addition, a group of buildings of the Training Center was put into operation: maintenance and repair point, boiler room, garage sector for cars and trucks. The catering unit of the Training Center for the Training of Specialists was reconstructed and equipped. Heating networks were installed in the military unit of the Tiraspol garrison. They discussed in the course of the meeting of the Military Collegium the participation of the defense department in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. Cultural and educational events were also mentioned that despite the quarantine restrictions, were carried out last year: "Minute of Glory", "Voice of the Army", "Intellectual Battle". A conference was held in cooperation with the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese on the topic of interaction between the church and the army. It was noted that it is planned to hold a significant number of events at the departmental, municipal and state levels, the purpose of which is to increase the attractiveness of the Pridnestrovian army and its image among young people in the coming jubilee year of the 30th anniversary of the PMR Armed Forces.
Having listened to the reports of the speakers, the President addressed a number of clarifying questions to the participants of the meeting on various aspects of official activity. Vadim Krasnoselsky after a detailed discussion of the state of affairs in the Pridnestrovian army gave current instructions, directing the personnel of the PMR Armed Forces to effectively continue the service aimed at ensuring the defense capability of the state and the security of the republic's residents. In general, the implementation of the tasks facing the Ministry of Defense was recognized as satisfactory by the Commander-in-Chief at the end of 2020.
