Army competitions of artillery units of the Pridnestrovian military forces took place at the Tiraspol army shooting range. Military units of the Ministry of Defense, peacekeepers and cadets of the Military Institute fought for the title of the best - only seven teams, each of which consisted of 5 people. 120-millimeter mortar is at the firing line. The firing range is from 800 to 4000 meters. The team has only two mines, but ideally the target should be hit from the first shot, which will significantly reduce the time to complete the mission.
Welcoming the participants of the competition, the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the significance of artillery, its rich military traditions that were laid down six centuries ago, as well as its role, performing the function of a fire shield, in the modern army. The President mentioned the fact that with the advent of mortar weapons, the tactics of warfare had changed significantly. Speaking about biathlon, the Commander-in-Chief emphasized that preparing for competitions is always self-improvement, experience, and practice.
The PMR Ministry of Defense holds this event for the second time. Last year, peacekeepers won the status of the first among the masters of artillery fire, completing the task in 3 minutes 28 seconds. Today they lost the victory to representatives of the Military Institute named after Alexander Lebed. The cadets hit the target in 2 minutes 56 seconds. Vadim Krasnoselsky, congratulating the winners, spoke with pride about the leadership of future officers: “I am glad that the cadets of the Military Institute showed such a good result. Soon, the winners will become the commanders of the units, they will lead the personnel to the competitions. Today, they are cadets of the institute, study, and tomorrow they will command in the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”.
Summarizing the results of the competition as a whole, the President noted the fact that all the teams coped with the task. Hitting a target using a maximum of two minutes is a good indicator, the Commander-in-Chief stated. Speed is increased compared to last year. Artillery biathlon is a team work in which cohesion and mutual understanding are important, the President recalled. “In modern conditions, without proper interaction, victory is impossible - not only in competitions, but also on the battlefield. The defeat of the enemy and the preservation of manpower and equipment depend on the level of interaction between artillerymen and motorized riflemen”, said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The President expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers of the “Master of Artillery Fire-2019” competitions, noting that he expects further improvement and increase in the skill level of servicemen.
