The republic is preparing to celebrate the anniversary. Pridnestrovie is changing. Renovated and new facilities are being commissioned across the country. Each such event is a gift for Pridnestrovians. Today, a complex of two belvederes, which adorned the entrance to Tiraspol from Bendery, was solemnly opened on the eve of the Republic Day. The entrance group was created on the initiative of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. Today, the President with his wife took part in the opening ceremony of the architectural object.
The history of Tiraspol and its founders was recalled during the festive event. The ceremony was attended by Generalissimo Suvorov himself. Honored artist of the PMR, Chief director of the theater named after N. Aronetskaya Dmitry Akhmadiev played his role. He recalled that the Tiraspol fortress of the II class was founded by the decision of Empress Catherine II to strengthen the south-western borders of the Russian state and was one of the 58 regular fortresses of the Kiev district; about 13 fortress guns, barracks for 2250 people, powder magazines for 6300 poods. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the history of Tiraspol and the present day of the Pridnestrovian capital in his speech. He noted that until now Tiraspol residents knew about history from textbooks, but did not have the opportunity to touch it. Now the history of the city has become more accessible and closer to everyone. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the fact that just three years ago it was difficult to imagine that landfills and vacant lots could turn into parks, sports grounds, and recreational areas. Now it is a reality. The President emphasized that the country is transforming and improving itself not in order to surprise or interest someone abroad, but solely for the comfort and pleasure of Pridnestrovians. The PMR President is sure that there will be tourists’ attention after that. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to everyone who supported his idea of creating an entrance belvedere and brought it to life. Words of special presidential gratitude - to the Head of the Tiraspol administration Oleg Dovgopol. The most distinguished participants in the construction of the colonnade were awarded state awards. Not only the heads of organizations involved in the work were noted, but also engineers, designers, ordinary builders. Their hands built and finished in the travertine style, imitating natural stone, two colonnades 6.5 meters high. The chosen solution fully reflects the Catherine's era. It sets the tone for the atmosphere that now reigns in Tiraspol, a modern city whose inhabitants honor history. It is only a few minutes drive from the new city gates to the Catherine Park, which occupies the central part of the city. The long-awaited object will be another present for residents of Tiraspol and guests of the capital for the anniversary of the republic. The opening of the park complex is scheduled for the 1st of September.
Another important component of today's celebration, thanks to which the future tradition was laid, is the raising of flags. Three canvases - the state flags of Pridnestrovie and Russia, as well as the city of Tiraspol – have been waving into the sky for the first time near one of the belvedere colonnades. Henceforth, they will be raised on flagpoles on public holidays, so that everyone entering the city knows: the capital is celebrating.
