The President attended the border guard monument unveiling ceremony

A new monument has been built in Rybnitsa. It is dedicated to border guards of all generations as the inscription carved into the black granite reads. The initiator of the memorial is the "Honor" Union of Veterans of the State Security Agencies of Pridnestrovie. The unveiling ceremony took place on the eve of the professional border guards' holiday today. Participants included border unit personnel, veterans of the Pridnestrovian State Security Service, and city and state leadership. The honorary right to remove the protective sheet, thus officially unveiling the monument, was granted to Leonid Khimach, a veteran of the Far Eastern Border District, and Viktor Tyagay, head of the Rybnitsa state administration.

The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic addressed the gathering. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the border service has always held a special place among military units and has always been distinguished by its high level of organization, resilience, and fortitude. The President noted the numerous heroic deeds accomplished by the border guards. He specifically highlighted the example of collective heroism, recalling the events of June 22, 1941, when Nazi German and Romanian forces invaded Soviet soil. According to Operation Barbarossa, overcoming Soviet border outposts took anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours. The enemy held out for months in some areas thanks to the steadfastness of the border guards. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the territory of Bessarabia was ceded to the MSSR after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Border guards from Tiraspol and Rybnitsa were redeployed to the Prut River. It was there that they met the enemy, repelling them and launching a counteroffensive and defeating them moreover. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized this is a unique example in the history of the Great Patriotic War. This is a heroic act of bravery by the ancestors of today's Pridnestrovian border guards, the President recalled. He thanked the service members guarding the country's borders for their service. Representatives of the Black Sea Border Guards also received the president's attention and recognition.

The President presented state awards to veterans of the service who had directly participated in the project to create a monument to border guards of the USSR and the PMR. The PMR Minister of State Security awarded departmental awards to the most distinguished officers. Valeriy Gebos spoke about the origins and development of the border service on the banks of the Dniester, the significance of the Rybnitsa detachment, which served as a bastion of the "Dniester shield", and the border as a line of not only national but also ideological division.

A significant element of the memorial composition is a granite slab, beneath which a message to future generations is preserved. A time capsule was placed at the base of the monument during its installation. The document's contents will be made public exactly 42 years later, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Border Guard (the corresponding decree was signed on May 28, 1918). The capsule is to be removed on May 28, 2068, according to the inscription on the plaque.
