Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke with veterans of the Great Patriotic War

The personal meeting with WWII veterans was initiated by Vadim Krasnoselsky. It is organized in the format of a tea party in the small hall of the House of Official Receptions. Invited to the conversation are participants in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 Vitaly Ignatievich Babak, Georgy Yakovlevich Panov, Daria Ivanovna Starykh, as well as prisoners of fascism Georgy Fedorovich Dudar and Tatyana Efimovna Poyato.

Welcoming the interlocutors, the President emphasized that the opportunity to communicate with veterans is an honor and pleasure for him. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted with regret that the program of the May celebrations scheduled for the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory had to be significantly reduced due to the pandemic, but, nevertheless, the Head of State emphasized, Pridnestrovie did not leave this important date unattended and celebrated the anniversary with dignity. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the fact that the September 2020 military parade united two reasons, confirming once again that Pridnestrovians honor the history of the Great Patriotic War and the Great Victory of the Soviet people in it. Speaking about the preparations for the parade, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that strict adherence to all quarantine requirements ensured complete safety: not a single organizer or participant of such a mass event fell ill. The President called on his interlocutors to the same responsible attitude towards their own health.

Another request, sounded albeit in a humorous form, but as an order of the Commander-in-Chief, is to live until the opening of the Pridnestrovian State Historical Museum. The veterans were the first with whom the President shared his concrete plans for its creation, calling the conversation a presentation. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that museum the history of Pridnestrovie from the Stone Age to the present day will be presented in detail and colorfully in the future. One of the most important departments will be dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. The plans are to create a 3D panorama of the Jassy-Chisinau operation and place a large-scale permanent exhibition of equipment and weapons from the Second World War in the very center of the Pridnestrovian capital. Worthy attention will be paid to the 1992 war in the museum, the President said. According to his calculations, the practical implementation of the idea as a whole will take three years. The first meeting dedicated to this project will take place in the near future.

The interlocutors spoke not only about the war, but also about the Soviet period, the events of the early 90s of the last century, and the present day. Veterans shared their memories and plans. Representatives of the winning generation emphasized the importance of preserving the historical accuracy of events. Remembering the history of the Soviet Union, the consequences of its disintegration, special attention was paid to the path that Pridnestrovie chose. Today the republic, despite the unfavorable external factors, is actively developing, cities and villages are being improved, veterans noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky, emphasizing that there is no escape from external influence, noted that the internal component is much more important - the aspirations and joint actions of the country's leadership and residents, a common vision of the future of the republic.

Each of the veterans present at the meeting was awarded with the jubilee medal “75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” by the President. In accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, it will be awarded to all WWII veterans living in Pridnestrovie. They will be delivered to the place of residence. Representatives of the Russian Embassy and the Russian communities of Pridnestrovie will present awards to 328 citizens of the Russian Federation on behalf of the President of the Russian State. WWII veterans who do not have a Russian passport (1200 people) will be given medals through local administrations. The awards must reach recipients no later than October of the current year.

Presenting anniversary medals to today's interlocutors, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that he was glad to have the opportunity to once again express gratitude to the veterans for their feat.
