A new page in the history of the Republican Sports Rehabilitation Center for people with special needs was opened in 2018. Then, on behalf of the President, the institution was handed over a long-term construction project on Lenin Street in the capital free of charge. More than 10 million rubles were allocated from the Capital Investment Fund to repair and equip the future rehabilitation center for three years. The opening of a new complex took place today. The PMR President, leadership of the Supreme Council and the PMR Government, the Head of the local administration, residents and guests of the city took part in the ceremony.
Addressing those present at the ceremony, the President recalled that the year when the decision to establish the center was made was declared the Year of Equal Opportunities in Pridnestrovie. It was 2018 that gave rise to the beginning of global transformations: implementation of many projects for restoration and development of infrastructure, environment adapted to the needs of citizens, who, due to the peculiarities of physical development, need constant care and increased attention from the state and society, began. The President presented awards to the workers who distinguished themselves in the construction of the center building.
There are four sports halls in the center: chess and checkers, table tennis, a gym and a hall for game sports. In addition, there is a computer class for disabled children of all categories, including the visually impaired. The special pride of the institution is a recording studio, the only facility in Pridnestrovie where audiobooks are created for blind lovers of literature. It will provide the specialized libraries of the republic with materials.
Everything has been thought out in the center to make it comfortable for people with any form of disability. Changing rooms, saunas, coaching rooms, a medical unit, bathrooms and other premises necessary for full-fledged and high-quality classes have been adapted and equipped to the needs of pupils and visitors.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, examining the new, already equipped halls, was interested in logistics, spoke with those who would become direct users of the center's capabilities. The President was shown the library - the Head of the institution had been forming its catalog for 20 years, having collected about 1800 books. Most of the specialized literature comes here from the Russian Federation. Representatives of the center - visually impaired - demonstrated to the guests a special writing technique. With the help of a relief-point tactile Braille, they wrote on special devices: “I love Pridnestrovie”, handing the postcard to Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Talking about the possibilities of the center, its representatives focused on the sports achievements of the wards. Pupils have taken part in numerous international competitions - Paralympic, Deflympic Games, World and European Championships, were among the top five teams in the world. The center constantly holds events inside the republic: annually organizes more than two dozen sports competitions and 30 cultural events, reaching more than 1500 people.
The participants of the festive meeting spoke about the role of such institutions in the public administration system and their importance for the country as a whole.
The chairman of the Republican Society of the Blind Viktor Nikita said that the opening of a new building of the sports rehabilitation and rehabilitation center for the disabled is a great event for people with special needs. Viktor Nikita expressed concern about the further socialization of people with disabilities and asked the President for state assistance in solving the problem of their employment. Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed the Government to develop programs that will allow people with disabilities to receive specialization and a job. The interlocutors exchanged thoughts, ideas, plans and specific proposals in this regard.
The development of social infrastructure for people with disabilities continues. Tomorrow, a new center for social and psychological rehabilitation of children with special needs will be opened in Dubossary. Totally, 12 new objects of this direction have been repaired and built in the republic.
