Representative delegation of European diplomats led by OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger arrived in Pridnestrovie

Meeting of the PMR President with European diplomats was held in the House of Official Receptions. The delegation was led by Thomas Greminger. He serves as the OSCE Secretary General since July 2017. He is for the first time in Pridnestrovie on a working visit. Among those accompanying Thomas Greminger are The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch and the ambassador of Slovakia Dusan Dacho, who chairs the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe this year. The Pridnestrovian side, in addition to the President, is represented at the meeting by the PMR Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov and Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.

Vadim Krasnoselsky, welcoming the guests, noted that for Pridnestrovie, the dialogue with representatives of the OSCE Mission is very important. In addition, the PMR President emphasized that the republic appreciates the efforts made by European colleagues to normalize relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the Slovak Chairmanship of the OSCE, with the help of which it is possible to keep the Pridnestrovian-Moldavian dialogue on an appropriate level. The President emphasized that the republic welcomes the effort of the European organization to resolve humanitarian and economic issues.

Thomas Greminger, in turn, drew attention to the composition of the delegation arrived in Pridnestrovie, emphasizing that it included representatives of the OSCE Mission, the organization’s secretariat from Vienna and Slovakia, as the current OSCE Chairperson. The diplomat considers the exchange of views in Pridnestrovie as very timely and very important. The OSCE Secretary General expressed the confidence that European participation will help the settlement process.

Vadim Krasnoselsky characterized the situation in recent years, calling the years 2017-2018 breakthrough in terms of reaching agreements, their implementation and fulfillment. The PMR President recalled the solution of problems such as functioning of schools in Pridnestrovie with teaching in Latin scripts, land use in the Dubossary district, license plates for vehicles, and apostilling of Pridnestrovian university diplomas. Attempts to solve the telecommunications issues, free movement, politically motivated criminal cases. The initiator of the solution of existing problems is the Pridnestrovian side, which is also the responsible executor of the agreements, it cannot be said about Moldova, Vadim Krasnoselsky said. According to him, the negotiation process this year has slowed down noticeably. If in 2018 there were 29 meetings of political representatives, then this year there were only two. At the level of expert (working) groups: 85 meetings were held in 2018, 16 - in 2019. At the same time, the negotiation agenda is replenished with new items. The PMR President noted creation of additional obstacles by the Moldovan side for the process of settlement of the Pridnestrovian-Moldovan relations. He informed the interlocutors of all the problematic aspects.

Discussing existing problems and finding possible solutions to them is the goal of today's meeting. The dialogue of the Pridnestrovian leadership with European diplomats continues.
