The Regatta of Memory was held in Bendery as part of events dedicated to the Day of the Bendery tragedy

The current Regatta of Memory in honor of the sportsmen-defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is the 26th. Professionals and amateurs of rowing go down the Dniester to remind of those who gave their lives for peace on the Pridnestrovian land with a memorable regatta from year to year on the 19th of June. The venue of the event is traditional - the rowing base "Chaika" (Rowing Sports Center) named after Nikolay Tufanyuk. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky was among the participants.

Opening the event the President noted the importance of preserving history and the continuity of generations. The President spoke about young people who continue sporting and memorable traditions of their fathers. He emphasized that the rain did not stop the many participants in today's regatta. He addressed with words of support the families who had suffered irreparable losses in the early 90s, having lost loved ones. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the pain of the loss will not go away, but our common support and the unquenchable memory of the victims are of great importance.

The Commemorative Regatta participants’ vessels were launched. The Dniester received flowers in memory of the Bendery athletes Andrei Bunin, Yuri Gladkov and Vyacheslav Malchukov who died in 1992, and everyone who fell victim to Moldovan nationalism in the early 90s.

The whole Pridnestrovie will stand motionless exactly at 16:45, the time of the treacherous invasion of the Moldovan military formations into peaceful Bendery. A nationwide Minute of Silence will be announced.

The commemorative sports event will continue with the traditional competition.
