Acquainting meeting of the PMR President with the Ukrainian Ambassador

The Head of the Ukrainian embassy Mark Shevchenko arrived in Tiraspol. He became the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova at the end of last year. Today the diplomat met with the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. Mark Shevchenko was introduced to the PMR President by the Special Representative of Ukraine on the issues of Moldova-Pridnestrovian settlement Victor Kryzhanovsky. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev, Special Representative of the PMR President for Cooperation with Ukraine Vladimir Smirnov and Special Assigned Ambassador to the rank of Deputy PMR Foreign Minister Ruslan Slobodenyuk from the Pridnestrovian side took part in the working discussion.

Welcoming the interlocutors, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the Ukrainian direction is one of the priorities in the foreign policy of Pridnestrovie. This can be explained both by the territorial neighborhood of the two states and by the historical ties that bind the peoples. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that one hundred thousand holders of Ukrainian citizenship live in Pridnestrovie, one and a half times the number of those who consider themselves compatriots to Ukrainians. The PMR President spoke about the family ties of residents, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, Ukraine’s participation in the work of the “Permanent Conference ...” format. The PMR President emphasized that the opinion of Ukrainian representatives, as participants in the negotiation process, is valuable for Pridnestrovians.

The meeting participants exchanged information and opinions on a wide range of issues related to the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian cooperation and the work of the “5 + 2” format. The format-familiarization meeting took place in a dialogue manner. The detailed conversation laid the foundation for the next stage in the joint activity of the Pridnestrovian leadership and the Ukrainian embassy, which the interlocutors agreed to continue in working order.
