The increase in the incidence of coronavirus and the response of the Operational Headquarters

Chief Sanitary Doctor Natalya Beril in the course of the meeting of the Operational Headquarters under the President outlined the dynamics of the incidence of COVID-19 in the context of the last three weeks: in increasing order - 680, 812 and 1054 cases detected in seven days. At the same time, the coronavirus mortality in Pridnestrovie is relatively low – 2,2%, and it is mainly the elderly and patients with serious concomitant diseases that cannot cope with the disease. At the same time, the mortality rate in the republic as a whole this year is lower than in the previous year (122 deaths in 2020 less than in the same period of 2019 - 5673 and 5795 cases, respectively). This suggests that, unlike other states, Pridnstrovie is successfully coping with the pandemic. Members of the Operational Headquarters are sure that one of the most important factors is the operative isolation and inpatient treatment of carriers of the virus. This practice will continue. The heads of state administrations of towns and districts were instructed to think over the future options for placing new branches of local COVID centers. While the number of infected citizens detected per day exceeds the number of recovered, hospitals will be filled, which means that additional space is needed to isolate them and provide professional medical care, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.

Considering that 875 people from the number of Pridnestrovians who fell ill in October-November are working citizens, members of the Operational Headquarters consider it extremely important to fulfill the requirement to transfer part of the personnel to work remotely. The wording of the solution is as follows: no more than 50% of the employees of the institution (enterprise) can be present at the workplace, unless such a reduction can lead to the production process stoppage.

As for educational institutions: 12% of carriers of the new virus are schoolchildren and students. Extension of vacations and transfer to distance learning is a forced, but necessary measure, the President noted, emphasizing that the primary task of the state and each of citizens is to preserve the life and health of children.

Teachers are allowed to conduct distance lessons both from home and through the technical resources of educational institutions during the so-called remote education. All work must be completed in 71 schools, included in the first stage of providing schools with computers before the end of the holidays. Fifty monoblocks have already been delivered to the republic.

Hot meals are kept for pupils in grades 1-4 because they will be taught directly in schools.

The issue of the functioning of small schools is discussed. Two arguments were voiced in favor of allowing work with children there as standard. First, the number of students in these schools is small, which means that the likelihood of a massive spread of coronavirus is minimized. Secondly, educational institutions with the largest number of students are the priority in the project for providing computers, that is, not all small rural schools will be equipped by the end of the holidays. The President noted that each case should be considered in private, instructing to provide the necessary information on this request.
