Pridnestrovie mourns the victims of Moldovan aggression

Those whose lives were cut short by the treachery of the Moldovan nationalists are remembered in Pridnestrovie today. The peaceful city of Bendery was shelled on June 19, 1992, on the third day after the adoption by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of a resolution on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. This date, which marked the beginning of 40-day military operations, has forever remained in the history of the republic as the Day of the Bendery tragedy. Memorial candles were lit in all the churches of the country and they pray for the repose of the defenders of Pridnestrovie and the innocent victims of the war unleashed by Moldova on the peaceful Pridnestrovian land today, exactly 31 years later.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky visited the Transfiguration Cathedral in Bendery. Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary served here for the murdered. The church was not only a witness to the tragedy that unfolded in Bendery in the summer of 1992, but also suffered from the weapons of Moldovan terrorists: bullets did not spare the cathedral domes.
