The President held discussion meeting with representatives of PSU

Vadim Krasnoselsky held a videoconference with representatives of Pridnestrovian State University named after T. G. Shevchenko. The leadership and administration of the university, members of the Academic Council, deans, heads of departments and research laboratories – about forty people in total – were invited to the conversation. The Head of the Administration of the PMR President, the Head of the Government and the Speaker of the Parliament joined the discussion from the side of the authorities. Rector of the Pridnestrovian State University was a moderator. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss topical issues of life and development of the state university, as well as issues related to education, upbringing, research practice.

The questions of the representatives of the teaching staff of PSU were connected with the Pridnestrovian-Russian interaction in the sphere of education. It was noted that the main university of Pridnestrovie has been accredited by Rosobrnadzor for the fourth time. They talked about what is being done to advance the issue of giving Russian status to the Pridnestrovian State University, including it in the RF program “Digital University” and connecting it to the National Electronic Library of Russia. It was said in this context that the interest in the maximum involvement of the Pridnestrovian university in the Russian educational space is mutually beneficial; it helps to strengthen the position and spread the principles and foundations of the Russian world outside the Russian Federation.

The President was asked whether it is possible to provide additional payments to the pension for having an academic title. Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to prepare an information certificate on the number of potential recipients of such surcharges and to calculate the annual price of the issue. The decision will be made on the basis of how the emerging demand will be correlated with the budgetary possibilities.

They also talked about the research laboratories of the Pridnestrovian State University and the mechanism of their financing. It is noted that one third of research laboratories are engaged in fundamental research, the rest are applied. University research laboratories have received funds on the basis of a civil law contract since 2019. This measure was adopted as a disciplinary-motivating measure and was found to be effective. It was proposed to conclude labor contracts with its employees taking into consideration the specifics of laboratories, whose works are of a fundamental nature. The President considered this approach reasonable and instructed to prepare the relevant documentation.

The issue of infrastructural transformation and material and technical equipment of the university was discussed. The staff of the Pridnestrovian State University expressed gratitude about the ongoing changes. At the same time, the administration, teachers and students are interested in whether it is planned to purchase new furniture and modern equipment. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the principle of putting into operation the objects being repaired and under construction under the Capital Investment Fund is the same: dilapidated furniture and equipment should not be returned to the cleaned-up buildings and premises; technical equipment should be thought out right away. The President explained that a major university renovation is not a matter of one day or even a year. The first stage is outdoor work. This is correct from a technological point of view. They will start the inside works after the roofing and facade work. They will start with building "A". They will renovate, furnish and equip auditoriums in need, a dining room, an assembly hall, and bathrooms Next year. In parallel, the improvement of the hostels and the campus will be continued. Then, other buildings of the Pridnestrovian State University will be put in order according to the same principle step by step.

The issues of youth policy, practice of grants, information security were raised during the conversation. They also spoke about the importance of the work aimed at popularizing the Pridnestrovian history and culture. The interlocutors discussed plans and projects. The question was raised about the need to promote the popularization of the works of Pridnestrovian authors who devote their works to the history of the republic and modern Pridnestrovie. There is an idea to launch the project "Book of Pridnestrovie" - by analogy with "Stamp of Pridnestrovie". It is important that printed editions of local authors are available, and books should be included not only in libraries for this, but also in the republic's trade network, emphasized Vadim Krasnoselsky, instructing the Government to develop an appropriate mechanism.
