The President inspected the halls of the sports center for people with special needs

The international community will celebrate the Day of Persons with Disabilities this Sunday. An event is dedicated to the date, which will take place this evening in Tiraspol at the site of the Republican Sports Rehabilitation and Recovery Center. We are talking about team pentathlon – competitions in checkers, chess, table tennis, darts and streetball. Participants are representatives of the center, the apparatus of the PMR Government, the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor, and the Ministry of Finance. The motto of the competition is “Sport for everyone: learning to live together”. Almost all halls of the institution will be used. They were inspected by the PMR President. Vadim Krasnoselsky is one of the initiators of the creation of the sports center for people with disabilities in the capital. He had personal control over the construction and the building equipment. He visited the center many times after its opening in September 2020.

The President was told during the current visit about the upcoming event, the everyday life of the center, the achievements of its visitors, updates to the institution and plans for the future. Director Georgy Cheban informed about numerous sports tournaments and championships, as well as cultural and educational events organized this year at the center. A museum exhibition was recently opened in the hall where chess players will fight today, for example. This spacious room is also often used for creative evenings. A musical group which has already given two dozen concerts was assembled at the center this year. They say that the large hall with a stage, accommodating about fifty spectators is always full. Vadim Krasnoselsky not only listened to the young performers, but discussed with them what equipment was needed for the further development of the ensemble. He promised to help with the purchase of loudspeakers, a remote control, and microphones.

The head of the center spoke about new clothes, carefully stored in the local “costume shop”. This is the name of the room where various costumes, including national ones, and sports uniforms of para-athletes representing Pridnestrovie at various international competitions, designed for various occasions and seasons, are waiting to be introduced to notice. Georgy Cheban drew attention to the bedrooms equipped in the center, which are necessary in case of the arrival of other cities residents.

One of the sporting innovations is showdown. This is an alternative to table tennis for the blind. The table was brought from Denmark. The gym and fitness section have been fully equipped. The manager said that this department is constantly busy. The hall’s capacity is no more than 15 people at one time. These are the safety standards. Daily attendance is on average 45 people. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention to the boat. He was told that she was not alone. Three boats are regularly on the water during the season. Competitions have already been held among rowers with special needs. They say they are preparing to compete in the presidential regatta.

Vadim Krasnoselsky was interested in the demand for the center. Minister of Social Protection and Labor Elena Kulichenko said that the nationwide coverage of all branches of the center (Tiraspol, Bendery, Rybnitsa, Dubossary) is more than 800 people. The capital's institution is visited by about five hundred. Another important aspect: half of the employees of the sports rehabilitation center are people with special needs. The President spoke with the Syrovatkin brothers, Sergei and Andrey. Both are professional swimmers and certified physicians. They are employed in the center. Their colleague Sergei Poleychuk is a massage therapist. All three are visually impaired.

Vadim Krasnoselsky discussed current issues with representatives of the center, thanked them for their work and wished them a successful evening competition, noting the importance of such events that consolidate society.
