The President inspected the most vulnerable segments of the Dniester River dams

The water in the Dniester rises due to heavy rainfall in the upper river basin and, as a result, an increase in discharge from the reservoirs of the Novodnistrovsk (Ukraine) hydroelectric power station and Dubossary hydroelectric power station (PMR). There is a threat of flooding of settlements of Pridnestrovie. The PMR President took control of the situation. Accompanied by the Head of the Operational Headquarters to prevent the threat of floods Ruslan Mova, Vadim Krasnoselsky examined the sections of dams and flood-proofing hydraulic structures that require increased attention in case of possible flood. Heads of local administrations arrived with inspectors to the facilities.

The Head of the capital Oleg Dovgopol, reported to the President that the survey of dams and structures at three sections with a total length of 25 kilometers under the jurisdiction of the Tiraspol administration was carried out in March of this year. The condition of two sections was recognized as unsatisfactory: in the maternity hospital area and from Moldavanka beach to the pumping station.

The Head of the city reported that the passage to the old ferry crossing in the 1st May Street was blocked by a 2-meter high embankment (the President examined the place), the preparation of forces and means to block, if necessary, storm sewers in the central square, as well as preparatory work related to plugging the drain pipe in Shevchenko street. According to Oleg Dovgopol, outreach and awareness-raising work is carried out with the population of micro-districts at risk of flooding. We are talking about 1353 Tiraspol residents (575 households) and 187 residents of the village of Kremenchug (75 households).

Vadim Krasnoselsky paid special attention to the segment between Tiraspol and Slobodzeya. If the dam breaks in this place, the lower part of the capital - till Sverdlov Street - will be flooded with water. The President has repeatedly pointed out the need to bring this site into proper condition, emphasizing that this is a matter of public safety, which means it is a priority. For non-fulfillment of presidential instructions in relation to a number of officials, disciplinary measures have already been taken. Taking into consideration the extreme current flood situation, the issue of raising to the desired level and strengthening the problem area of the dam was transferred to the personal control of not only the PMR Government Chairman, but also the PMR Minister of Internal Affairs, who heads the Operational Headquarters. Having examined the location, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the planned work had begun too late. Now we must proceed from the existing circumstances and take emergency measures. It was entrusted to construct a temporary parapet, which will double the protection against advancing water. They will return to a full reconstruction of the dam section located between the Dniester and the territory behind the capital's maternity hospital after the flood test has been successfully passed.

Another Achilles heel is the dam connecting Kitzkany and Bendery. Its breakthrough will lead to flooding of several villages and the Silk micro-district of Bendery. It was entrusted to prepare forces and means for strengthening the weak section. The road leading from the capital to the village of Kitskany require attention. If water is not retained, it will wash off the roadway, emphasized Vadim Krasnoselsky. The President recalled the danger of flooding the treatment facilities. Their spill is fraught with extremely unpleasant consequences. Participants of the inspection detour also stopped at the Botna river. The pond has spilled noticeably. Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Head of Slobodzeya Vasily Tishchenko discussed the technical condition and capabilities of the local gateway.

A specially created commission on the eve visited and assessed the situation in the village of Mereneshty. In the context of the flood threat, the President assigned this settlement of Slobodzeya district to the responsibility zone of the Bendery administration, arguing with territorial proximity. Today, a delegation led by the President stopped by the Dniester Dawns camp in the Merenehsty camp. The arriving was met by the Minister of Defense (the facility is managed by the Capital Region). Oleg Obruchkov reported that at the recreation site there are pupils of the Popenko boarding school. At the moment there is no threat of flooding of the sleeping quarters, but the beach area is already in the water. In order not to risk the safety of the children, today after lunch they and the staff will be centrally transported and placed in the Victoria camp. The arrival of the wards of the village of Glinoe, planned for today, was postponed in this regard. "Victoria" is located away from the river, that is, outside the risk zone.

The largest length of the dams of the Dniester River in the Slobodzeya district is 200 kilometers from Bychka to Nezavertylovka. The head of the district administration told the President that he personally traveled along the entire route, assessing the condition of each site.

Vadim Krasnoselsky being at the bridge between Tiraspol and Bendery, drew attention to the urgent dismantling and evacuation of property from the new Bendery beach. The President was informed that the territory was de-energized. Similar events are held in the youth camp. Representatives of specialized services carry out visit the housing estate in areas of possible flooding.

The President inspected dam segments in the Grigoriopol district today. Some are in satisfactory condition (they were strengthened during and after the floods of past years), others require urgent strengthening. The President stopped at the canal passing under the road bridge between the villages of Krasnaya Gorka and Delakeu. Assessing the situation, Vadim Krasnoselsky made recommendations regarding mechanism of water retention in the area.

During and following the inspection of dams and structures, the President gave a number of current instructions. The flood situation and measures to prevent flood threats are on the personal control of the President.
