The PMR President held a meeting with the Latvian ambassador

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova arrived in Pridnestrovie. It was an introductory visit. Edgars Bondars headed the Latvian embassy in Moldova in September of this year. The diplomat was received by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky today. The meeting took place at the presidential executive office. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev took part in it.

The interlocutors expressed a mutual desire to fill the dialogue with practical content, emphasizing the importance of having relevant and reliable information received from the original source. The Latvian diplomat noted that he had previously monitored the situation in the region, but his official duty requires studying deeply and in detail now.

Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on significant aspects of the life of the republic. He spoke about geopolitical instability and its impact on the lives of Pridnestrovians. He focused on difficulties with imports and noticeably sagging exports, recalling that the Pridnestrovian economy is focused on the foreign market. He spoke about relations with Moldova, noting that the negotiation process is more of an imitation now in fact. The PMR President recalled that the “Permanent Meeting...” in the approved “5+2” format has not met for a long time, and there is no dialogue progress as a result. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that there are various negotiating platforms that must be used to achieve fundamental goals and solve current problems. The main issue on the agenda remains maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of citizens, the PMR President emphasized.

The meeting participants paid attention to both political and economic aspects, identified areas of promising cooperation.
