Memorial Candle lit on Memorial of Glory of the Capital

Not for the first year, citizens of Tiraspol participate in the International Memorial Event “Candle of Memory”. It is organized on the night of June 22 as a reminder of the tragic event - the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Today on the Memorial of Glory, pictures of 78 years old have come to life again. June 22, 1941. Preceding dawn hour. Graduate prom is behind. Yesterday schoolchildren have a new life ahead of them. They share with each other plans and dreams, which, it turned out, was not destined to come true. Levitan's terrible message that the German armed forces, without declaring war, attacked the borders of the Soviet Union, made soldiers who defended the Great Motherland from the graduates.

Among those who arrived today at the capital's Memorial of Glory, is the PMR President with his wife. They, like hundreds of Tiraspol citizens, lit lamps and lowered flowers to the Eternal Flame, to the foot of the monuments and onto the stone slabs under which the defenders rest.

Vadim Krasnoselsky reminded that the event is held in this format for the third time. The idea, first implemented in 2017, belongs to the head of the Operational Group of Russian Forces in Pridnestrovie Dmitry Zelenkov. As in previous years, today, many Tiraspol residents responded to the invitation to take part in the memorial event. Very young heirs of the Victories - unarmeytsy - came to the memorial place for each inhabitant of the capital.

“Memory brings us back at that time, those tragic days of the start of the Great Patriotic War, which were associated with perfidious attack, with a mass death of people, with the general tragedy of the Soviet people. Terrible war, the hardest test. Four years. Huge losses. Still they can not count how many people actually died. 2 million people are still missing. Children, women, old men died. It is very hard to realize that today there are those who want to rewrite history, attribute to someone the victory, call the soldiers-liberators invaders, and the generals - bloodsuckers. It is not right. We must honor the memory, conduct the march of the Immortal regiment and such events as today. I am grateful to everyone who came to the Memorial of Glory tonight, lit a candle, laid flowers on the graves of the heroes, whose names are carved in granite. This is our common memory, laid at the genetic level, and we will not lose it, no matter how hard anyone tries,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky, the PMR President.

“This is a very serious night, serious day. This event is always very hard for me as wife and mother. This is probably natural, because in every person there lives the conviction that life is the norm, that’s right, and war is beyond human understanding. Anyone who comes here this day, experiencing deep emotions, is afraid of repetition of the tragedy. We do not forget, we are telling our children and grandchildren that it’s scary, that it’s not normal and that this should not happen, nowhere and never”, shared the wife of the PMR President Svetlana Krasnoselskaya.

The war is over. The memory of the war and of everyone who gave his life defending the Motherland will remain forever. Its symbols were not only burning candles, but also white balls, like the souls of dead defenders and victims of war, soaring into the brightened peaceful sky of Tiraspol.
