“The year is ending, life goes on, plans are being realized”, Vadim Krasnoselsky about events and activities related to the activities of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese and the development of Orthodoxy in the republic

Meeting of Vadim Krasnoselsky and Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary was held at the presidential executive office. The interlocutors summed up the series of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the diocese, as well as the celebration of the Orthodox holiday of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They talked about upcoming events. The Archbishop drew the attention of the President that the consecration of the Church of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael at Chonae, erected in Pervomaisk, will not be held as previously planned on November 21, but on the eve of the Orthodox holiday – November 20. They discussed how the work on creating the iconostasis is progressing. The icons are painted by local artists – employees and students of the Bendery Art College. As expected, the main elements of the iconostasis will be created before the opening of the temple, and work on it will continue then.

The first foundation stone of another Pridnestrovian temple is to be laid – in Dnestrovsk this year. The President was presented recently with a visualization of the church that local residents would like to see in the city. Design and estimate documentation is currently being prepared. Vladyka Sawa outlined the need to hold an off-site meeting at the site of future construction to discuss design developments and detail some aspects. The issue that has already been resolved is the name of the church. The temple in Dnestrovsk will bear the name of Elijah the Prophet.

The Archbishop said that he held a service in Kamenka district, in the village of Oknitsa yesterday, noting the special decoration and atmosphere of the church restored with funds from patrons. The meeting participants shared their impressions of other Orthodox sites located in remote villages of the republic, emphasizing the active participation of concerned citizens in the work of reviving and building new churches and chapels.
